Noon Duty Recreation Aides Needed If you have a little extra time on your hands and would like to see how your child interacts with others, we may be able to help. We are looking for adults who would like to help with the supervision of students during the lunch hours. There may be extra time available before and/or after school also. The Recreation Aide position pays $8 per hour and applications are available in the school office.
School Safety Issues Several issues have been identified that we would like to address to insure the safety of our students. We are asking your help with the following: - Please respect the directions of our staff when they are working the parking lots after school. - Due to the presence of District vehicles in front of school before and after school, please use the side lot for the drop off or pick up of students. We ask that you don't park in front of the school during those times. - Students are to wait for adults in the picnic or shelter areas, not in the parking lot. - Please be prompt picking up students (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday between 2:15 and 2:25, and Thursday between 12:55 and 1:10). - Students crossing Auburn Boulevard must NOT cross against the light. This is a very dangerous spot and we want to be sure our students are safe. THANK YOU for your attention to and help with these issues.
Discovery Club The Arlington Heights Discovery Club is organizing a food drive that will benefit Advent Lutheran, a local food bank that serves as a central hub supplying over 20 other food banks in the Northern Sacramento area. The food drive will run from until November 18th. Donations may be left in the front office or with Discovery Club. Advent Lutheran is low on supplies of peanut butter, but all canned goods are welcome and encouraged.

Their duties include providing input and approval of the School Safety Plan, Single Plan for Student Achievement, and management of the Student Support Budget. The council meets routinely on the third Tuesday of the month at 3:30 PM in the Library (Media Center). The council may also meet in a special session it the need arises. These meetings are open to parents and the general public. As with every school year, with families moving on to middle school, there is a need for additional parent members. The council is looking for new representatives and interested parties are asked to contact Ms. Reaves, the principal.

We have scheduled a make-up picture day for November 19 to accommodate students who were ill or whose parents are not happy with the pictures taken in October. Cold Weather Reminder Because the weather is cool in the mornings and nice in the afternoons, our lost and found rack is overflowing with jackets and sweatshirts (also with lunch boxes). Please stop by to check for any items that may belong to your student, or have him/her check during the lunch time. If clothing items or lunch boxes are labeled with a student name, we can identify the owner and return the item promptly, saving you a trip. Thanks for your help.
