Welcome to the Cambridge Heights Library !
The library media center at Cambridge Heights has over 9,000 books and 3 student computers to look up where to find a book using the online catalog or students can take Accelerated Reader quizzes. Each week, every 1st-6th grade class visits the library at an assigned time. During that visit, students are introduced to various authors, genres, or given instruction in research or library skills. Each student understands it is their responsibility to take care of their library books and to return them on time.
The library is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 am until 2:30 pm and on Thursday from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm. Students may turn in books at any time and/or exchange them for another book.
Miss Galli's Heartwarming Fireplace! Please stop by the Library and see the new addition of an oak fireplace! Miss Galli has generously donated the cozy reading area to the school as a way of memorializing her 39 years of teaching exclusively at Cambridge Heights in Pod C! Her morning and afternoon reading groups were the first to enjoy reading in front of the fireplace!
Barnes & Noble Book Fair: Thank you to all the parents, students and staff that supported the library and "Books & Barks" program by coming out to Barnes & Noble on Sunrise Blvd. during the week of Nov. 2-8!! The store made a donation to our school every time a purchase was made and Cambridge Heights was mentioned at the cash register. The store manager said our display was the best she had seen, and everyone enjoyed seeing dogs in a bookstore!! Mrs. Hann & I had a great time together and loved seeing students, parents and staff drop in during our Saturday morning Story Time and throughout the day... again, THANK YOU!!
Author Day: On Wednesday, October 14th, children's author Erin Dealey came to our school and presented two lively assemblies in the morning! She used props and student actors and actresses to make her story Little Bo Peep Can't Get to Sleep! come alive. She held a spur of the moment question and answer time with a sixth grade class that was visiting the library, and signed books for students who had pre-orders afterward. Erin did a fabulous job putting on a workshop for the fourth grades classes called, "Theater Games for Fluency and Fun". Before the school day was over, Erin Dealey visited Mrs. Tidwell's afternoon Kindergarten class and read one of her books to them since they were not at the morning assembly. Everyone loved our Author visit!!
