Sorry for all the bragging, but I am very proud of what our students accomplished.
We look forward to more great things happening at Casa this year. To begin with, we have what we are told is the best freshmen class in the last decade and our freshman class last year was the largest freshmen class in the District. Casa is no longer a secret. Students and parents are literally lining up to enroll here. I think our Student Government’s motto of “Up, Up, Up, Let’s Keep Going Up” is perfect for what we are trying to accomplish at Casa. I encourage you to browse our web site and to familiarize yourself with the staff and the many programs offered at CRFHS. As well as all the basic college prep classes and the most comprehensive elective program in the District, our offerings include an Agriculture Department with courses in horticulture and animal sciences, an Air Force JROTC program, five advanced placement classes, six accelerated college entrance courses where students can earn college credit if they pass the class with a B or better, 8 honors classes, a four year AVID program, and a successful athletic program. The staff at CRFHS is hard working and dedicated to their students and to the Orangevale community. Many of our staff live in the CRFHS attendance area and it would not be unusual for a student to have one of his or her teachers as a neighbor.
The following staff members are new to CRFHS this year:
- Heather Gardener – Vice Principal
- Tom Cecil – Health / Economics teacher
- Susan Sloan – half time Librarian
- Laura Troppman – English / AVID Teacher
Parent communication is critical to the success of our students. Parents now have on-line access to view their student’s grades and attendance. Call Ms. Magnuson, the Principal’s secretary, at 971-5452 if you have not received your password and the directions to log on to the parent portal. If you do not have internet access at home, we have a computer you can use in the attendance office. This computer can be used between 7:00 am and 8:30 am and 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm and only for checking your student’s grades and attendance. We no longer will send home attendance print-outs on Fridays so please make sure to regularly check on line for your student’s grades and attendance. Remember you only have 10 days to correct errors on your student’s attendance records. Every night, beginning in early September, you will receive an automated phone call anytime your student is absent from one or more periods that day. Also, our automated caller will call you to remind you of important events or emergencies at CRFHS. Final grade reports are mailed home in January and June and reports are given out to students every 4 ½ weeks. Many of our teachers have their own web pages, which you can link to from this web page and all of our teachers have email addresses and voice mail boxes which they check daily.
Thank-you for taking the time to read this and for being a parent or guardian of a Casa Roble student.
