Every year for the last four years, Churchill teachers have selected a team of students to become actively involved in educating their peers on how to recognize bullying and how they can help stop it. Each member of the
BE BOLD team volunteers many hours to be trained in bullying awareness and prevention. The team then gives classroom presentations to demonstrate how bystanders have the power to stop harassment. The
BE BOLD team also creates and performs skits for
BTV as a reminder that everyone has the right to be themselves and to feel safe at school. It is emphasized that everyone has the ability and responsibility to prevent bullying.
In the spring,
BE BOLD also makes classroom presentations to teach “refusal skills”. Students who are able to make good decisions about what is best for them personally, and present themselves with confidence, are less likely to be influenced by peer pressure or to be bullied. Students and teachers are working together to provide a safe and positive environment for our Churchill community.
