Dear Citrus Heights Families,

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a relaxing break. It was a great opportunity for us all to reconnect with our families. We have completed our first trimester already! Our teachers have been busy processing report cards and setting up conferences for next week. We will have our minimum day schedule all next week with dismissal at 10:55.

Thank you for helping our students get to school on time each and every day! Our daily goal is less than 10 tardies or absences. Classes with the best attendance each day earn extra recess by being excused from lunch first. The class with the best attendance for the week is recognized with a special flag to post. This week the flags go to Mrs. Magee (primary) and Mrs. Chambers (intermediate)!

GRANDPARENTS’ BREAKFAST!

Thank you to our wonderful PTA for putting together this annual event. It was wonderful to see so many extended families visit our school. We appreciate the continued support of our parents and community.

EMPLOYEE OF THE WEEK: Joan Graves

This week our award goes to Kindergarten teacher Joan Graves. She is super dedicated to our school and really supports our Positive Behavior Systems and working with kids. Thank Mrs. Graves for all she does!

Sincerely,

Alicia Legarda

Principal

Parking Lot:

Please continue to proceed to the coned off area in front of the Kindergarten playground for unloading and loading students. In the afternoons please stay with your vehicle and a staff member will bring your student to you. Please remember to turn right only upon exiting our parking lot onto Auburn Blvd. for safety and to keep traffic flowing.

School Lunch:

For your convenience, you may pay for school meals online! The Food Services department of San Juan Unified School District has arranged for our families to pay for their student's meals online. Go to www. Myschoolbucks.com to get started. You can make payments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You can make your payments with your credit cards or bank debit card from Visa, MasterCard, or American Express. The service will allow you to view cafeteria purchases, track your meal balances, setup low-balance email reminders, and schedule recurring payments.

PTA Corner:

Welcome back!  We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break.  Our Grandparents breakfast was a huge success again this year thanks to everyone that volunteered their time and efforts.

  • Our teachers who baked:  Mrs. Dax, Ms. Mills, Mrs. Van Atta, and Mrs. Fillo.
  • Our coffee runners: Mrs. Ellis and Larry Alexander.  Ms. Rudy helped keep the food refilled on the table and Merri Jewitt and another mom that helped out with the cleanup.
  • Our wonderful Janitors: Jude and Brandon.
  • Gigi in the kitchen
  • Matt and Ryan for helping with parking.

I know I am missing some people and I sincerely apologize for that.  Our PTA board was great as usual: Thank you Karol, Tammi, Angela and Debbie for all your hard work!
Our next event is our skate night on December 17th.      PTA will cover a portion of the cost as well and provide popcorn and soda.  It's always lots of fun. We hope you can make it. Our catalog fundraiser will be delivered before the Christmas break.  Congratulations to Shane Craddick and Jessica Gouvea!  They were our top sellers and each received a $25.00 gift card to Walmart.
Thank you to everyone who participated.
Please contact Karol Ellis, PTA President, at 726-2620 or 215-5228 for questions or more information.

CITRUS HEIGHTS STRATEGIC PLANNING

In June, the San Juan Unified School District Board of Education adopted a results-based five-year strategic plan that identifies a path to achieving our community’s highest aspirations for education and our schools. It’s now Citrus Heights School’s turn to develop a site plan that will align with the mission and objectives of the District while defining the unique role we play in delivering education to San Juan Unified students.

Your help is needed to develop a site plan that identifies and celebrates the great work that happens here every day and begins to reach for the amazing things we want to accomplish tomorrow.  This is your chance to help define Citrus Heights School.

The process will mirror what was done at the District level with volunteers needed for both a school planning team and school action teams. The planning team will consist of a limited number of participants chosen to form a group that is representative of our entire school community. The planning team will meet for two full-days in January and for another full day in May.  The role of the planning team will be to study the District strategic plan and set Citrus Heights School’s own mission, objectives, and tactics.

A school action team will be formed for each tactic identified by the planning team. Participation on action teams will be open to everyone who would like to volunteer. Action team members will participate in weekly meetings from late January through May. The schedule of meetings will be determined by each group.  The action team is responsible for developing the specific action plans that will be used to achieve each tactic.

Don’t miss this opportunity to be a part of setting Citrus Heights School’s future course. Your voice is needed! To volunteer or for more information please contact Alicia Legarda, Principal, at 971-5230.  Our next meeting will be Tuesday, December 15th after school in the staff room.
