Principal's Message

Dear Visitor -

Welcome! My name is Rich Carlson and as the principal of Cottage Elementary, I would like to thank you for visiting our website.

For many visiting our website, the reason for your visit was prompted by one of our parents, staff, or neighbors recommending you to enroll your child in our school. Positive word-of-mouth is truly something that makes us very proud. Cottage is very fortunate to have sustained a very positive, long-lasting relationship with our community. I encourage you to swing by the office and ask for a tour. I would be delighted to introduce you to our campus and the core of our succes - our students and staff.

Cottage is special for many reasons, all of which revolve around a core principle of providing a quality education for all students. Our teachers and support staff are a dedicated team of professionals focused on providing rigorous, content-rich instruction, coupled with a positive behavior recognition program (PBS - Positive Behavior Support) to ensure a comprehensive learning experience for your child.

I believe that a visible principal is an involved principal. Therefore, I apologize in advance if I am elsewhere on campus when you check in at the office. Monitoring instruction and the safety of the students is paramount for a principal. However, when you arrive, our office staff will contact me via our 2-way radio system to alert me of your arrival. I look forward to meeting you and your child. As you approach the office, you may also be greeted by our Campus Monifor, Mr. Pirkey whose primary duty is to monitor any activity on school grounds. He will be happy to direct you to the office. At Cottage, we have a series of procedures in place to remain proactive regarding potential safety issues.

Again, I appreciate your interest in our school and encourage you to visit. If you are considering a school for your child to attend, please contact us!
