Mr. A (the 6th grade teacher) has asked our choir to sing for the k-garten, and 6th Grade Preview Night which will be held THIS TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH. This is what I received from him today about the times:“We're inviting choir to perform at the end of the kinder part (7:20ish) and then again at the beginning of the 6th grade part (7:30 ish).”
Choir students who are in 1st-3rd grade will sing at 7:20. This choir will sing “The Penguin Polka” and “Here Comes the Sun.”
Choir students who are in 4th-6th grade will sing at 7:30. This choir will sing “Butterfly Fly Away” and “Here Comes the Sun.”
Please have your students wear concert attire—white shirts and black pants or skirts (or if you don’t have black anything dark). Please meet in Mr. Barnes room at 7pm. Students will be excused after their performances. If possible, can you RSVP if your child CAN be at this performance.
Thanks, Heather Durrans (hdurrans@sbcglobal.net)
On another note, we have a choir concert on December 16th at 6:15pm. Students will need to arrive at 5:45 for warm-up in Mr. Barnes room. They need to wear concert attire. We are working on providing daycare at the school for any parent who wishes to stay after the concert for the PTC meeting which meets at 7pm. Please be sure to keep looking on the school website for updates on choir news. I also post all the lyrics for our songs on our site. I’m trying to go paperless this year—you all can print out the words at your leisure.
We will sing the following songs for our Winter Concert: Sunshine Day, Here Comes the Sun, Round & Round the Pumpkin Patch, Penguin Polka, The Snowflake, Jingle Bells, My Favorite Things, Must be Santa, Butterfly Fly Away (older group only).
Our other OPTIONAL holiday performance opportunity will be on Monday, December 21st at 4pm at Eskaton. The kids will sing and then give out carnations to the residents in the audience. It will be a special opportunity for our kids to give participate in helping seniors in our community have a happier holiday. Please let me know if your child would like to participate in this activity by sending me an email. I will only send emails about this to families who can participate in this activity. It is not a school sponsored activity…just a community service opportunity for each family being that it is during our holiday break.
In the meantime, enjoy the holiday songs! Happy Singing! Fondly, Mrs. Durran
Lyrics for all these songs are posted on the school website under Cowan Choir. Happy Singing! Contact me if you have any questions at hdurrans@sbcglobal.net .
