Accelerated Reader

A/R Stickers students look for to find books in their reading level.

The Coyle Avenue elementary School library has many books that support the Accelerated Reading program used in several of the classrooms.  In the library, your child can tell which ones are the AR books because they are designated by Color Coded sticker on the spine of the book.  During the school year your child will take a reading evaluation test. This test will determine his or her reading level. This way the students are reading books at their level. If they take home books they can read they will be more encouraged to read. After they read the book they can take a test on the book. We do not have tests for every book in the library, only the books that are marked with these stickers have tests.

Why do we use Accelerated Reader?

Accelerated Reader (AR) is the most popular and successful reading product of all time. AR’s advanced technology helps you:

  • Make essential reading practice more effective for every student.
  • Personalize reading practice to each student’s current level.
  • Manage all reading activities including read to, read with, and independent reading.
  • Assess students’ reading with four types of quizzes: Reading Practice, Vocabulary Practice, Literacy Skills, and Textbook Quizzes.
  • Build a lifelong love of reading and learning
