Del Paso Manor Elementary School
Principal’s Message
Our New Journey
I hope you had a wonderful summer and are ready for a great year at Del Paso Manor Elementary School!  I am very excited to be part of such a great team.

I am a product of the San Juan Unified School District.  I attended Roberts Elementary School, Carnegie Middle School and graduated from Bella Vista High School.  I completed my student teaching at Howe Avenue Elementary and left San Juan for a job opportunity teaching 6th grade at Fern Bacon Middle School in the Sacramento City Unified School District.  I have been an instructional coach, school improvement facilitator and vice principal prior to returning to San Juan.  I truly enjoyed working with the students, staff and community as the vice principal and interim principal at Kingswood Elementary last year.  Being selected as the principal of Del Paso Manor Elementary School is the opportunity of a lifetime!

As an instructional leader I will be visiting classrooms daily and interacting with our students before school in the MP room, during recess and lunchtime, and after school.  Building positive relationships is essential to creating a positive school climate.  Our staff will continue to deliver standards based lessons that incorporate research based instructional strategies that have proven to increase academic achievement.  We will continue to develop a collaborative culture in our classrooms and also as a Professional Learning Community.

I look forward to working with each DPM family.  It is crucial that home to school communication is developed early in the school year to best support our students.  Students are more likely to be successful in school when a partnership is developed and the student views their family and school as a team.

Together, DPM will set high expectations & goals and work together as a team to achieve them.  Together, DPM will continue to develop & foster an environment that allows every student to reach or exceed his/her potential.  DPM students will transition to middle school with a core competency and the necessary skills to ensure academic and social success.

Sincerely,

Shana Walters, Principal
