Lyceum Mission To motivate students to pursue high levels of academic achievement, to assume leadership roles, and increase community involvement.
Lyceum Program Lyceum is a program that recognizes students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and community service. The Lyceum general council establishes the standards of achievement for each graduating class. Students who apply for the Lyceum and meet the Lyceum graduation requirements become Lyceum graduates.
Lyceum Awards One of two awards may be earned by Lyceum graduates; Lyceum Honor Graduate or Lyceum High Honors Graduate.
Lyceum Applications Interested students may apply to the program at any time. Applications are available in the Vice Principals and Counseling offices and are to be turned in to the VP office.
Program Requirements: Lyceum Honors Graduate
Students must complete all 5 requirements
The student meets the UC and CSUS, A through G, requirements at the end of the 3rd quarter of the senior year with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.5.
The student has completed (or is enrolled in) a minimum of 6 one year honors and/or AP courses with a minimum grade of B- through the 3rd quarter of the senior year. At least 3 of the courses must be AP courses.
The student has participated in at least 1 school club, academic competition, or completed a season with an El Camino athletic team, dance/drill, or cheer teams for a minimum of 6 semesters. (A completed season will count as a semester of participation. A completed year with dance/drill or cheer is two semesters.)
The student has completed at least one of the following:
The student has been an officer of an active club for at least 2 semesters.
The student has been an El Camino team captain or co-captain for athletics, dance/drill, or cheer for 2 seasons.
The student is a yearbook or school newspaper editor.
The student is a student body officer or class officer in either the junior or senior year.
The student has directed a community service project of at least 15 person hours involving a minimum of 2 other people.
The student has completed 60 hours of documented community service by the end of the 3rd quarter of the senior year.
Program Requirements:Lyceum High Honors Graduate
Students must complete all 5 requirements
The student meets the UC and CSUS, A through G, requirements at the end of the 3rd quarter of the senior year with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 4.0.
The student has completed (or enrolled in) a minimum of 10 one year honors and/or AP courses with a minimum grade of B- through the 3rd quarter of the senior year. At least 5 of the courses must be AP courses.
The student has participated in at least 1 school club, academic competition, or completed a season with an El Camino athletic team, dance/drill, or cheer teams for a minimum of 6 semesters. (A completed season will count as a semester of participation. A completed year with dance/drill or cheer is two semesters.)
The student has completed at least one of the following:
The student has been an officer of an active club for at least 2 semesters.
The student has been an El Camino team captain or co-captain for athletics, dance/drill, or cheer for 2 season.
The student has been the president of an active club for at least 2 semesters.
The student is the yearbook or school newspaper editor-in-chief.
The student is a student body officer or class officer in either the junior or senior year.
The student has directed a community service project of a least 30 person hours involving a minimum of 5 other people.
The student has completed 100 hours of documented community service by the end of the 3rd quarter of the senior year.
Verification forms For leadership, community service, school participation, and academic verification may be turned in to the Vice Principal’s office at any time.
Verification committee The verification committee will meet at the start of the 4th quarter and all forms must be in at this time.
Recognition cords Lyceum Honor Graduates will be given their cords at Senior Awards Night and cords are to be worn with the graduation gown.
