SAP support groups offer an educational opportunity for youth to share, receive support and gain insight about common topics of interest to teens. These support groups are curriculum-based and provide education and awareness in the areas of communication, time management, appropriate emotional expression, goal setting, and positive decision making. Support group topics include:

  • Anger Management
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Alcohol and Drug Awareness
  • Recovery
  • Family Stress
  • Tobacco Cessation
  • Life Skills
  • Stress Management
  • Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens
  • Teen Relationships

These short-term support groups meet one class period a week for a duration of eight weeks on each high school campus. If you would like additional information, please contact Encina’s SAP office at 971-7581. For further information, please go here.

  • AL ANON/ALA TEEN: Support groups for those who have alcoholic relatives or friends.
  • ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS (A.A.): A twelve step program for alcoholics. Youth meetings are available.
  • AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION: Provides self-help manuals and monthly stop smoking clinics.
  • CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES: Provide protection to children who are victims of abuse and neglect. Call this number to report cases of suspected abuse or negelect.

  • CLOTHES CLOSET (for S.J.U.S.D. families): Clothing provided for all family members: application available on all school sites in district.

  • DIOGENES Youth Services: Crisis resolution; individual, group and family counseling and temporary shelter.

  • HEALTHY FAMILIES PROGRAM: Low-cost health, dental, and vision insurance for children ages one to 19 years. Eligibility determined by family income every year. Benefits include prescription medicines, preventative dental and eye exams, regular check-ups, and physician and hospital services.
  • KAISER: Provides general medical treatment, tobacco cessation assistance, substance abuse treatment, and psychiatric services to Kaiser members only.
  • NEOMIA LEEPER: Services for homeless S.J.U.S.D. families. 971-7045
  • NORTHEAST HEALTH CENTER (at RUSCH PARK): Public health care, immunizations, sexually transmitted infection diagnosis and treatment, HIV testing, family planning services and pregnancy testing. Fee for some services.

  • PEOPLE REACHING OUT: Paraprofessional counseling for youth and families; assist in identifying difficulties, preventing or deterring drug and alcohol problems.

  • PLANNED PARENTHOOD: Family planning information and services including pregnancy testing and counseling, education and training; screening and treatment for STDs and infections for men and women.

  • SUICIDE PREVENTION HOTLINE (CRISIS SERVICES PROGRAM): 24-hour telephone line specializing in crisis intervention and suicide prevention.

  • THE EFFORT: General medical treatment, well child care and immunization, family planning services, pregnancy testing, physical exams, STD testing and treatment, confidential HIV testing and counseling. Provides services to chemically dependent persons, and offers medically supervised residential detoxification treatment.
  • W.E.A.V.E. (Women Escaping A Violent Environment): 24-hour shelter and crisis line for people affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. New services: safe House, counseling, legal, & child education.

 

  • WHITE HOUSE: Individual, group and family counseling for S.J.U.S.D. families. Accepts MediCal.
