Principal's Message

Welcome to our website!

It is a pleasure for me to introduce Gold River Discovery Center to you.  Our school is entering the 17th year of operation and we are proud to carry on the high expectations of excellence established in 1993.  The school was recognized as a California Distinguished School in 2007 for the second time and was previously honored as a National Blue Ribbon School in 1998.  

The teachers and staff are committed to a high quality education for all students.  Since the school’s opening we have strived to be innovative and trendsetters with our teaching. The GRDC curriculum is based on the rigorous California State Standards and is extended with implementation of challenge units in all grades.  In addition, the school is unique with the usage of our community garden and our sixth grade monthly trips to the American River.  

In addition, we are proud to have successfully grown to become a preschool – eighth grade school.  With the addition of 7th-8th grade three years ago the school has successfully evolved to become one of the highest performing and model PK-8th grade schools in the county.

Gold River Discovery Center is a special school with partnerships fostered with parents and community.  It is the norm to see parents volunteering and participating in their child’s education and to hear of the fantastic events that our PTA has organized.
