Principal's Message

Dear Grand Oaks Students, Parents and Community,

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year!  We are off to a GRAND start and look forward to a year full of new learning and fun.  We are eager to work together to make this year the best yet and hope that you'll find many opportunities to be involved at Grand Oaks. 

Communication is important to us.  If you have a question, comment, concern or compliment, please feel free to come in, phone or email.  Our school phone is 971-5208 and my email is barbara.gaskin@sanjuan.edu

Our school is committed to safety.  In order to maintain an environment safe for all, we ask you to check in to the school office whenever you visit our campus.  We will greet you with a smile and give you a volunteer / visitor name badge to wear.  By following this procedure, we will be sure you are accounted for on our campus in case of an emergency.  We'll also know you have been cleared to be on our campus. I know you appreciate a safe campus for your child.

We encourage all parents to join the Grand Oaks School PTA.  Our PTA meets monthly in the evening.  All are welcome to join and attend meetings.  Our PTA has planned numerous events to celebrate and support our students.  Our September event is our annual Jog-a-Thon and our October events include our annual Membership Drive, Red Ribbon Week and Harvest Festival!  We welcome your participation and volunteer assistance for each event.  Please come to our next meeting which will be held in October.  (Please see our calendar for upcoming events and details.)

We are happy that you have selected Grand Oaks Elementary for your child's education.  We know that you have a choice in the educational plan for your child and we appreciate the trust you have placed in us. Please take a moment to review your teacher's web page to learn more about daily and upcoming events.  Each teacher is dedicated to serving the needs of each of their students and will work with you to make sure students achieve their goals.  

I am grateful to serve as your principal and know that Grand Oaks is a grand place to be!
