NOTES FROM THE PTA
UPCOMING PTA MEETING Please mark your calendar. The next General PTA Meeting is Tuesday, November 17th at 6:00 p.m. in the library. The Board Meeting is on the same day at 5:00 p.m. All are welcome.
Holiday Workshop! Saturday, Dec. 12th from 10-2pm.
This is a fun day for your children to craft and make some gifts while giving you an opportunity to have a few hours to yourself! Just think of the possibilities! Shopping, relaxing, errands without kids, etc! Sign-ups will take place after Thanksgiving. We are looking for donations of quart-size canning jars, holiday patterned fabric, and red and green felt. Order your t-shirts and sweatshirts now!!! Deadline to turn in orders is Tuesday, November 17th. We have new colors this year and have also added zipper front hoodies! We will not be ordering many extras, so be sure to get your order in on time.

Thank you to all the Green Oaks families that have submitted your pledges for Friends of Green Oaks. Your support of our school is greatly needed and appreciated. The first l/2 of the billings have been emailed/mailed off, please let me know if you have any questions. If you have not submitted your form yet, please send it in to your child’s teacher or turn into the office. There are extra forms in the office, or email sumebayashi@sbcglobal.net with your pledge amount and I will email a statement back to you. Show Us What “Beauty is…in PTA’s Reflection Art Competition
Green Oaks has talent! Now show it by entering this year’s PTA Reflections Competition. Just express what “Beauty is…”through your visual art, literature, poetry, photography, music, dance and/or film production. The deadline for entries is November 19, 2009. Just pick up an entry form in the office or email greenoakspta@yahoo.com and you’ll receive entry information. Last year several Green Oaks students qualified as finalists and many received special awards. Check out last year’s winners at www.pta.org under “Reflections”. GO ‘FREE MONEY’ FUND RAISER UPDATE....... We would like to share with you our totals for the ‘Free Money’ programs from last year. SaveMart $999.15, eScript $725.70, and Raley’s $1,598.02. ‘EASY MONEY’ PROGRAM
Each family that signs up for our ESCRIP program will earn 10 Beaver Bucks. To sign up visit www.escrip.com Our school id# is 6510168. Beaver Bucks will be sent home by the PTA. Thanks for your support! Thank you for keeping the FREE MONEY coming to our school! If you haven’t already signed up for Escrip please do, it is also FREE MONEY for Green Oaks. Log onto www.escrip.com our group ID# is 6510168. They also have Escrip Dinning which earns us money from eating out using your cards that participate in the program. They have many restaurants that participate that are not listed on the site! Like TGIF and Jack In The Box. So if you are not a shopper but you eat out than this is for you!! RALEY’S ‘QUALITY OF LIFE’ FUND RAISER PROGRAM
One of our fundraisers at Green Oaks is the Raley’s card program which provides payment to our school each time the card is used while you are checking out. If you haven’t signed up for yourself or family, please stop by the office. We have the sign up material and it takes less than a minute to sign up on line.
S.H.A.R.E.S. CARD: SAVE MART/FOOD MAX
Please stop in the office and get a S.H.A.R.E.S. card. This is our easiest fund raiser for PTA! Just use the card during your regular shopping transactions at these stores and we will receive an automatic percentage of your total purchase. The cards are also good at Lucky Stores in the Bay Area. Please take extras for grandparents, friends and neighbors!
Box Tops Challenge! It's that time again! We have started our ‘GM Box Tops Challenge’! The competition is on to see who can bring in the most box tops for their grade level! If you need a collection sheet, please ask your teacher or stop by the office. I am looking for people to help count and bag the box tops per grade. I am also looking for someone to train as coordinator of this program. This is my last year at Green Oaks! This is an important fund raiser for our school. Please call me if you can help! Thanks! SAVE CAPRI SUN PACKAGES! We are starting up the Caprisun recycling program again. Kids can turn in their empty Caprisun pouches at lunchtime and PTA will take care of the rest. This is a great way for our school to earn a little extra cash! Thanks for the help!
Volunteer Hours Hello Green Oaks Families. We had a great start to the year for volunteer hours. For August-September 30th you gave 1,074 hours of your time. Way to go! That is why Green Oaks is the best. Remember to sign in and out at the office to have your time counted. Thank you so much.
