Principal Message

August, 2009

Dear Parents,

We’d like to welcome you and your children to the 2009-2010 school year.   We are ready for a great school year!  Our theme this year continues to be “Star Polishing” as our children become “Shining Stars.”  Parents and staff are the star polishers and our students are our shining stars!  It is our job as star polishers to shine our little stars, buff them and send them out into the sky to be our bright, twinkling beacons of light.

We will continue focusing, as we do each year, on the district standards, analyzing student work, implementing strategies for improving student achievement and attendance and Positive Behavior Support.  Along with our regular focus Greer School will be implementing research based pratices called assessment for learning where students are trained to use self assessment to improve their work. 

We have other exciting news.  Greer Elementary School has set has been selected to lead the way implementing Writer's Workshop. Teachers will be working with special trainers throughout the year as they implement Writer's Workshop.  Students will become prolific writers/authors with this program.

We look forward to the new school year and your involvement, support and commitment to your child’s educational program.  Together, we can brighten and create shining stars!
