August, 2009
Dear Parents,
We’d like to welcome you and your children to the 2009-2010 school year. We hope that your family had a restful, safe and fun summer. We are getting ready for a great year! Our theme this year continues to be “Star Polishing” as our children become “Shining Stars.” Parents and staff are the star polishers and our students are our shining stars! It is our job as star polishers to shine our little stars, buff them and send them out into the sky to be our bright, twinkling beacons of light.
We will be focusing, as we do each year, on the district standards, analyzing student work and implementing strategies for improving student achievement. In addition, during their professional development days on August 19th and 20th, staff will be focusing and training on strategies to improve achievement through use of writing and assessment for Learning to help your children be competitive in today’s world.
The first day of school for students will be Monday, August 24th. our child's teacher for the new school year is listed below.
Our Back to School will be held on Wednesday, September 2nd at 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. Please come to meet your child's teacher for the new school year. Look for additional important information and dates included in this letter.
We look forward to the new school year and your involvement, support and commitment to your child’s educational program. Together, we can brighten and create shining stars!
Sincerely,
Deborah Kraus Mirna Pelayo

· Parents of kindergartners meet at the kindergarten gate at the front of the school.
· Walkers and bike riders are to walk off campus using the sidewalk. Once off campus, riders may get on their bikes.
· Carpoolers wait in front of the school by the flag pole until their ride arrives. An adult will supervise as the child gets in the vehicle.
*Teachers will not release students until they are in front of the school. The playground is the PE teacher’s classroom, so we ask all people to wait out in front of the school until the teachers bring students to the fornt of the school.
VII. PARKING LOT:
A. The parking lot is one way. Look for the adults in the orange vests or wearing an employee badge to guide you. There are three lanes marked off by cones. The lane closest to Hurley is the passing lane only. It is not used for pick up. It is used for leaving once you have your child in your vehicle. It must be kept clear at all times. The middle lane is for loading and unloading. Once you have dropped off or picked up your child, you may drive out or use the passing lane to leave the parking lot. The lane closest to the school building is for school buses only.
