Principal's Message

Welcome to Howe Avenue Elementary!

Howe Avenue is a Positive Behavior Support site.  We teach our students the social skills that they will need throughout their lives as citizens in our community. We teach our students to follow the basic rules of: Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Responsible, Be Respectful, and Be On Task.  Our behavior policy has been sent home for every student and is also included on this website.  Students receive Character Cash and monthly Character Trait assemblies recognize students who exhibit positive behaviors.

All students receive standards based curriculum and interventions as necessary to help them achieve grade level standards.  Parents can support their child by reading to and/or with their child, encouraging them to complete homework, talking with teachers, and having conversations about the school day.

The Bridges After School program provides academic, social and recreational opportunities for 2nd - 5th grade students.  Applications are available in the school office. We also have Discovery Club and Children's Center on site for families.

During the year we will continue to have Family Nights and other opportunities for you to learn about Howe Avenue and what your students are learning.  Parents also have the opportunity to join our parent - teacher association (P.A.T.S.). We know that we will have a great year as we work together to create a positive learning environment for all children.

Please contact the school office at any time with questions.

Tim Murphy, Principal                                  Lydia Smith, Vice Principal
