San Juan USD Dress Code.

Kingswood School
Uniform Dress Code for Students

A Uniform Dress Code has been established for K-6 students at Kingswood Elementary School. Appropriate school day dress for all students will typically be slacks or skirts in khaki and polo style tops in navy, worn along with appropriate footwear.

Khaki style slacks shall be solid color in khaki, shall be worn at waist level, and may be cuffed or uncuffed. Skirts shall be solid color in khaki and shall be worn at waist level and extend to within two inches of the knee. Slacks and skirts with large “cargo” style pockets are not appropriate. Slacks and skirts may be beltless style or have belt loops. Those with belt loops shall be worn with a belt of a length appropriate to waist size, or must fit well enough not to sag.

Polo style tops shall be solid color in navy. They shall have a collar and must be worn with shirttail tucked into the slacks or skirt. Polo tops may be either short-sleeve or long-sleeve, but they may not be sleeveless. Students may wear undershirts beneath the polo shirts. Such undershirts must be solid white with no words, pictures, or emblems on them.

In addition to the slacks and skirts described above, girls may wear jumpers in solid color khaki with an appropriate navy top underneath. These jumpers shall extend to within two inches of the knee.

When weather permits, students may wear shorts to school. They shall be the same style as the slacks described above, be solid khaki in color, and shall extend to within two inches of the knee.

“Low-rider” pants shall not be worn.

Shoes may be either lace-up style or slip-on. Those with laces must be laced up and tied. They may be either sneaker or hard sole style. “Flip-flops,” house shoes, and steel-toed boots are not allowed.

Outerwear, including heavy coats, fleece pullovers, and sweatshirts with or without hoods are not allowed to be worn inside the school building. If students wear these items to school, they must be removed upon entry into the school building.

Lightweight jackets or sweaters may be worn inside during cold weather. Such items should button, snap, or zip all the way down the front.

It would not be possible to compile an exhaustive list of all clothing items that can and cannot be worn. As is true with any policy or procedure, teachers and administrators will use reasonable judgment in implementing and administering this uniform dress code.
