About La Entrada High School
image

La Entrada is the only continuation high school in the San Juan Unified School District. Students are referred to us on an involuntary or voluntary basis. Some students are referred to our campus by the Central Review office or by the School Attendance Review Board (SARB). Most of our students are voluntary transfers due to credit deficiency.

The school address is:

5320 Hemlock Street
Sacramento,  CA 95841

La Entrada is located between Old Auburn Boulevard and Madison Avenue.  Our school phone number is (916) 971-7590.  Our fax number is (916) 971-7302.

Involuntary transfers from Central Review or School Attendance Review Board (SARB) will be allowed to enroll upon referral from either office.  In addition homeless families as well as Foster children can enroll with us with the help of supporting agencies.

Voluntary transfers will be allowed to enroll with us only at the quarter.  The dates for voluntary transfers are August 24, 2009, October 26, 2009, January 19, 2010, and April 5, 2010.  All students and their parents/guardians must attend an orientation which are held four times prior to the beginning of each quarter.  Please see our website for orientation dates.

Our goal is to return your student to a comprehensive high school after they fulfill their Central Review or SARB contract.  Some of our students find a niche here and choose to stay and graduate with us.  For those who graduate, we will be holding graduation ceremonies at the Performing Arts Center on the campus of Mesa Verde.  For seniors who do not earn enough credits to graduate we will transition them to Adult Education two months prior to their eighteenth birthday or the second semester of their senior year to earn their General Educational Development (GED) or continue to pursue their high school diploma.  La Entrada does allow seniors a fifth year if they only need one more quarter which equates to twenty-one credits to earn a diploma.  Students who are granted a fifth year must have had very good attendance, not been suspended, and must be making significant progress towards their diploma.

Students can earn 21 credits a quarter for a total of 84 credits in a year.  Seniors can also request "extra credit" from all of their classes if they have 90% attendance, are receiving an A- to B+ in the class, and the work is completed.  As a result of our credit recovery policies students do focus on their studies and earn more than the 21 credits in a quarter.
