l Ruff subscribes to this neat online service. Click on the link to log-in or to register. Staff who need to convert from a student membership into a teacher membership should log-on to our staff communication page to get the password (see related links at the bottom of the staff webpage:-).
ThinkQuest - recommended by teacher Lori V. - "ThinkQuest is a protected, online learning platform that enables teachers to integrate learning projects into their classroom curriculum and students to develop 21st century skills." Looking at the site Julia recommends using the ThinkQuest library of existing student projects as a resource for classroom lessons.
Enchanted Learning - Our subscription is up to date. You will need to use our school log-in to access this great resource. Our license only covers Laurel Ruff staff - see the link on our staff communcation page if you have forgotten the password (the password info is at the bottom of the page in the related links sections)

Tar Heel Reader - is a collection of free, easy-to-read, and accessible books on a wide range of topics. The books may be downloaded as slide shows in PowerPoint, Impress, or Flash format.

Foss Web - is the official site for the inquiry-based FOSS science curriculum - SJUSD's elementary level adopted science curriculum. A place for support, resources, and fun activities.
U.S. Department of Energy website - offers a variety of Energy Efficiency courses, lesson plans, and activities - recommended by SJUSD planning department :-).
MicroAngela's Electron Microscope - Judy E. found this cool website that "allows viewers to explore familiar and unexpected views of the microscopic world with colorized images from electron microscopes at the University of Hawaii."

ARTS
San Francisco Orchestra Kids Site and Dallas Symphany Orchestra Teachers site - These two fun music sites were highly recommended by a parent. Both sites include fun activities that introduce basic music concepts and the instruments.
