Principal's Message

Dear LeGette Families,

We have had a great start to the school year and it is hard to believe that our first trimester is half way finished.  The teachers will be creating and mailing progress reports for students that we have some concerns about.  This is a chance to see some areas that can use a little extra attention.  If you receive a progress notice and have questions, please email your child’s teacher.  If you have questions, always work with the teacher first for many questions are easily answered.

We have had a higher than normal number of students out with flu-like symptoms that include a fever and headaches.   The symptoms have been lasting between 3 to 5 days.  We continue to ask you to error on the side of caution for if a student comes to school sick, they can infect their entire class.  One thing that is critical is keeping your child home until the fever has been absent for at least 24 hours (without medication).   These flu-like symptoms are being experienced at numerous schools around the district.

LeGette is in the last year of their current contract with “My Skills Tutor”.   This is a web based program that allows students to move at their own level either reinforcing skills or further challenging their own abilities.  The program works at the student’s level.  As we get closer to that time of the year when we take breaks from school, this is another way to give students a chance to continue to improve academically.     There is a link on this website under resources to get to “My Skills Tutor”.

Earl LeGette was never designed to handle the amount of traffic that flows through the parking lot and along the street.   I have been impressed with the efforts of most of our families in putting safety first.   In our parking lot, we are asking families to make sure you are at the curb or in a parking spot when picking up your child or children.  Please do not stop in the lane of traffic.  Also, do not leave your car unattended along the curb because it backs up cars on Kenneth Avenue.  I am still seeing quite a few cars making U-Turns in on Kenneth Avenue.  Aside from being illegal, it is dangerous.  CHP has been notified of my concerns and they will periodically be out to enforce the law.   A few minutes of inconvenience are worth the safety of our families and students.
