New Facilities Construction
Measure J funds totaling nine-million dollars are being used for the construction of a second (small) gym, a library building, and four classrooms on the Mesa Verde campus. Since opening in 1974, the Mesa Verde High School campus has never been completed. Facilities such as a cafeteria building, library building, second gym, swimming pool, and a football stadium/track area were never built. The construction of the second gym this year, and the library/classroom complex in 2009-2010 will move Mesa Verde High School towards offering facilities equal to other area schools.
The second gym has been complete, and offers about 8000 ft

A full size basketball court, equipment storage areas, and modest bleacher seating are some of the features of the gym.Click on the New Gym Construction link in the left column for pictures of the construction project.
The library-storage area/classroom complex will feature an approximately 8000 ft

Due to budget restrictions, a conference/classroom and library computer lab have been eliminated from the design. The library will use all-in-one desktop computers at the study tables, and a robust wireless system for laptop internet and online resource access. The storage area will serve to store textbooks, teacher materials, professional development resources, archive items, technology equipment, lamination equipment, and a staff work/processing area. The library is scheduled to start construction in May 2009, with an estimated completion date of August 2010.
