Principal’s Message - 2013 Quarter 2
Well it is hard to believe that one quarter of the school year is over! It seems like we just greeting students and handing out schedules. The new term started on Monday October 14th and all went very smoothly with all students all arriving into the correct classes. Report cards will be mailed out from our school on Friday October 18th and you will be receiving them on Saturday or Monday. Please take time to sit with your child and review not only grades but citizenship marks as well. If you have any questions at all regarding these marks please call the school.
I also want to take this time to ask for parent support and become involved in our WASC accreditation process. Every six years a school conducts an in-depth self-study to examine overall progress accomplished since the last self-study, in our case the last Mid-Term Review in 2011, and the effectiveness of our current programs and practices. If you would like to volunteer to be part of this process please call us at 971-5299. Your time involvement will be some Thursday’s from 1:50 to 3:00 p.m. Your input is highly valued and you should be a part of the direction of Mesa Verde.
All fall sports are in full swing and I invite you to come out and watch a game. Our Homecoming football game is Friday October 25, 2013 vs. Capital Christian High School at San Juan. I invite all current parents and all former alumni to the game. I know our Student Government kids are planning a fantastic Homecoming with a great rally and floats that will be driven around the San Juan track in- between the JV and Varsity games on the 25th. And who will be the Homecoming King and Queen is always a surprise so come join us in the festivities! The Homecoming dance will be held in our Performing Arts Center from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m.
Upcoming events to remember for this term are;
1) CAHSEE testing-11/5th and 6th for all juniors and seniors who have not passed.
2) 11/10-Fall sports begin and Veteran’s Day and no school.
