Principal Richard Messer

With the holiday season upon us, it is hard to believe we have almost completed the first half of the school year!  It has been an incredible learning experience for me as a new principal and a very exciting time.

There have been many highlights and successes since the start of the year.  In September, we celebrated the dedication of the new Gebhardt Gym with over 300 guests from the community, the district, and Coach Gebhardt’s family.  Our fall sports teams have shown incredible spirit and competed with honor and pride throughout the season.  Our winter sports kicked off November 10th with both men’s and women’s basketball programs and wrestling going full steam ahead.  Our Drama program has been working at an incredible pace to produce our Fall Varity Show and the “Crucible.”  Our band and choir also performed the Fall Music Concert in October with much fanfare and success.  The Business Academy has recently brought some incredible speakers to Mesa Verde including Citrus Heights City Manager Henry Tingle, California State Assemblyman Roger Niello and United States Congressman Dan Lungren to speak to our students.

We are now settling into our new student information system, ZANGLE, and hopefully parents and students have been able to gain more access to grades and attendance then ever before.  We have also started our Tutoring program before and after school and are working to support all of our students at Mesa.  And finally, the new library construction has started and its completion date is some time in July.

Mesa Verde High School is an exciting place full of powerful teaching, learning, and spirited activities!

Thanks,

Rick Messer
