Welcome
Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year at Northridge Elementary School! We have had a very smooth start to the school year. Students are happy to be here and they are eager to learn.
Over the summer staff participated in different curriculum trainings. We are proud to be one of eleven San Juan elementary schools trained in the implementation of “Writing Workshop” as our writing curriculum (please see article below).
Our teaching staff attended training in Response to Intervention – which is the practice of providing high quality, research based instruction and interventions to meet all students’ needs, plus the method of monitoring individual progress.
Everyone on staff (teachers, aides, custodian, office, Bridges, etc.) attended training for “Steps to Respect”, a grades 3–6 anti-bullying program. Grades K-2 will continue to teach “Second Step”, which focuses on friendship skills. These programs support our school rules “Be Safe”, “Be Respectful”, and “Be Responsible”!
We plan to mail home the school newsletter every month, along with updated calendars. Special notices will be sent home in the Monday folders – any office communication will be printed on blue paper! Please feel free to give me a call if you ever have any questions, concerns, or suggestions!
