Principal's Message

Hi Everyone,

This is sure to be another exciting year at Orange Grove Adult School. We have many fun and educational classes for our 200+ adults with disabilities as well as lots of fun special events planned for the 2009/2010 school year.  If you've never been to Orange Grove, come on by and we'll give you the grand tour! We're the happiest place in Sacramento!

Thanks to a Site Council grant, we have jumped on the technology band wagon in a big way. We were able to put interactive whiteboards (Smartboards) and LCD projectors in every classroom.  We now have the capacity to broadcast to all of our classrooms and you should see the 'Spike News'; our weekly student newscast.  The staff and students are learning how to use all of this new technology.  Check out the teacher webpages to find out the latest and greatest and how they are using technology in their individual classrooms. It's pretty amazing.

The passing of the State budget in February brought many changes to funding for adult education statewide. We are no longer in charge of our funds, and the district is now able to utilize our funding for the K-12 program. Consequently, we are operating with 36% less funding than the 2007/2008 school year. With the help and support of our Family and Friends Volunteer Club, a first time registration & materials fees, and some creative thinking, we are moving forward and offering the best program possible for our students.
