Dave Terwilliger, Principal

Welcome to San Juan High School. Established in 1913, San Juan is one of the oldest secondary schools in the entire Sacramento area. Our experienced, caring staff, diverse student body, and standards-based curriculum provide students with a quality educational experience that prepares them for post-secondary opportunities in the world of work and higher education.

San Juan High School is accredited through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) for providing a quality educational program for our students. As part of our accreditation, San Juan High established six interdisciplinary Expected School-wide Learning Results (ESLRs). All San Juan High graduates will be collaborative workers, critical thinkers, quality producers/performers, effective communicators, community contributors, and self-directed learners. All San Juan High courses utilize these ESLRs as a basis for instructional strategies to develop students who are independent learners.

San Juan High offers a wide range of classes to meet the needs of our students. Students may complete the A-G courses required for University of California entrance eligibility, and students may take Honors and Advanced Placement classes that may help them earn college credits before graduation. Students may also choose from a variety of elective course offerings to help round out their high school education. We also offer students many opportunities available in athletics, clubs, and other activities. San Juan High’s staff encourages students to get actively involved in their high school experience. We want all students to become active, engaged, life-long learners.

Throughout the course of this school year, you will be hearing about exciting, significant changes planned for San Juan High School as District and site staff members work to add a proposed high tech Career Education focus to the school. Additionally, plans are underway to refurbish the school to accommodate this focus and to enhance the school’s appearance. Please visit the San Juan Unified School District and San Juan High School websites for updates.
