Sierra Oaks School celebrates the 50th Anniversary during the 2009-2010 school year!
Sierra Oaks School was dedicated on Monday, May 23, 1960 as part of the Arden -Carmichael Union School District. It opened in February 1960 with an enrollment of 215 students. The principal, Norman R. Siefkin remained at Sierra Oaks until 1969. A fountain, designed by Peter Ximenez, was created in his honor. It represented the trunks of four oak trees. It bubbled with water for many years. It was recently moved by the MP room during courtyard construction.
Sierra Oaks was designed by architects, Cox and Liske, who also designed Scheweitzer, Cameron Ranch and Del Dayo. 11.59 acres were purchased for $83,137 for the Sierra Oaks site.
Sierra Oaks was built for $748,178. 89% of the funds came from state aid.
