Nutrition
The Food Services department provides fuel for learning through meals served in our district’s schools under the National School Lunch Program and National School Breakfast Program. Menus are planned by the district’s Registered Dietitian (also known as “Mrs. Nutrition”) to meet federal and state standards for good health. With childhood overweight and obesity on the rise, it is reassuring to know that school meals offer the ultimate nutrient and portion control. As regulations state 30% of calories come from fat and less than 10% from saturated fat. Our lunches provide one-third of the Recommended Dietary Allowances of protein, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, iron, calcium, and calories for each age group averaged over the course of a week.
