Technology

At Sierra Oaks K-8 School, we are committed to making sure all students are competent with technology and know how to use it to help them learn and demonstrate their knowledge to others.  Thanks to our generous PTA, we are proud to have LCD projectors in each of our classrooms for teachers to use to help them present information using their own teacher laptops.  Each classroom also has at least two computers to use with their students.

Sierra Oaks is completely wireless, again thanks to PTA.  We have two computer labs:

One computer lab is staffed by a computer technician, Ellen Connelly.  She leads classes through weekly computer explorations to enhance their skills with technology along with developing critical thinking and problem solving.  She stresses computer etiquette and safety procedures.

The second computer lab is a wireless mobile lab called a COW (computers on wheels).  This lab can be wheeled into any classroom to be used by classroom teachers in their own instruction.

Sierra Oaks has a committee of teachers who focus on the technology needs of the school and integration of technology into the curriculum areas.  This committee is currently working on developing a five year plan that will continue to build and expand how technology is used to enhance student learning.
