The Sierra Oaks faculty knows that students learn through many ways. Sometimes students will be motivated to increase their skills in math and reading after being exposed to a new idea or a new experiences. Field trips, assemblies and special projects are a few of the ways that teachers develop and expand students' interests. Thank you for your continued support for these experiences!
* The Touch of Understanding Assembly for 4th grade:
This special assembly allows students a chance to see what situations people with disabilities encounter each day. Students are able to experience the limitations that being in a wheel chair. They are able to hold different types of prosthesis used by people missing a limb. Students are especially thoughtful when seeing the prosthesis of a toddler's arm. This assembly brings the opportunity for everyone to see what life is like for many people.
* Field Trips
Field trips help students gain real life experiences that allow them to practice skills or vocabulary. Teachers use these experiences to develop conceptual understandings. They can also be great fun and wonderful ways for parents to participate in their child's education. If you would like to be a volunteer on a field trip, please see our volunteer requirements.
