Principal's Message
Parents, I would like to thank you for the effort you are putting forth in your child’s education. This year the staff at Sylvan Middle School has begun what we are calling the PRIDE (Personal Responsibility In Daily Effort) program. The staff has been recognizing positive behavior with “Pawsitive” passes that are turned in and randomly selected for prizes every Friday. We are seeing tremendous results not only in student behavior but academic success as well. With the culmination of the first quarter we have tallied the student GPA’s (Ms. Koller, Ms. Cox and Mr. Blaylock did this by hand as our new Zangle system doesn’t provide this information) and we found some outstanding results!! Sylvan middle school has 218 students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. That is over 40% of our enrollment has a B average or better. We want to thank you for supporting our cause. Have PRIDE in yourself, your child, and our school. As we start the second quarter please be sure to check our student information system to find out how your child is doing in their classes. On the Parent Portal you can not only find out grades but you can research attendance or missing assignments. If you need further information about this system please call our main office at 971-7873. Sincerely, Jeff Banks Principal For more information on Sylvan Middle School, please go to: http//www.sanjuan.edu/schools/sylvan
