Career & Technical Education

What is ROP?

ROP offers tuition-free career preparation training through the Sacramento County Office of Education. ROP classes are open to anyone 16 years of age or older.  While high school students are given enrollment preference over adult students, adult enrollment is allowed on a continuous basis for all sessions on a space-available, first-come, first-served basis.  Some classes have material fees that are due from adults at the time of registration.

The Regional Occupational Program (ROP) provides hands-on, unpaid training designed to furnish students with entry-level marketable skills. ROP instructors have extensive career experience.

Regional Occupational Programs (ROP) are taught through a series of lecture, group activities, project-based learning and job-related internship experiences.  Students will learn resumé writing, application completion, communication, interview skills, and job search techniques. Career and technical standards infused with academic standards and workplace learning prepare students for success in the workplace as well as post-secondary education.
