Athletics
Athletics at the San Juan Unified School District is an integral part of the entire school setting and a means to achieving complete student educational development. An array of sports and programs are offered at each campus under the direction of the Athletic Directors.
School sports are staffed by experienced coaches that are carefully screened, bound by a code of ethics and undue influence policy, and participate and are certified in a coaching class, American Sports Education Program (ASEP) which emphasizes Pursuing Victory with Honor, a mutual goal of the district and the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) (Outside Link - will open in a new browser window).
CIF is a statewide organization through which member high schools mutually adopt rules and regulations relating to interscholastic athletics to promote educational balance, competitive equity and fair play for high school sports. Sac-Joaquin Section (Outside Link - will open in a new browser window), the Northern Division of CIF, has information about athletic eligibility, bylaws, playoff information, etc.
The district also provides a K-8 and Middle School Sports Program.
The Athletic Program Specialist Ron Barney, oversees the district's Athletics Program.
