Sierra Oaks K-8 School staff, students, parents, and community members met as a Site Strategic Planning Committee on August 8th and 9th. The foundation work was completed, with the creation of a new mission statement, four objectives for the next four years (2013-2017), and four new tactics. Action Teams now being created for each tactic will meet monthly for several hours to create the "how" for the strategic plan.
The mission of Sierra Oaks K–8, valuing a diverse and dynamic school community, is to cultivate all students into critical thinkers who communicate effectively, engage responsibly, and serve successfully as global citizens by providing a rigorous and innovative curriculum in a safe, respectful learning environment.
- All students will demonstrate growth in problem solving, critical thinking, communication and use of technology.
- All students will develop and consistently demonstrate the character traits necessary to be successful global citizens.
- Annually, 75% of students will meet or exceed their expected growth in ELA and Math.
- Annually, the achievement gap for all significant subgroups will decrease and students will show growth in Math and ELA as measured by multiple measures.
