Status on 8th Grade Girls Volleyball Team
By: Ashley Klotz and Cleary Chizmar
This Friday the girls 8th grade volleyball team played Arcade. The game was very close. Both teams are about equally good. Sierra Oaks lost the first round. The score was 25 to 23. Several of our serves were out. In the second round we played really hard. We won 26 to 24. In contrast to the first round, most of our serves actually went over. Maddie Dickman served the winning point. Our team cheered with excitement! We still had a chance at winning if we won the third round.
Unfortunately we barely lost the third round. The score was 15 to 13. Again most of our serves were over, and we even got a few spikes over. We fell behind because some of our players tried to set incoming serves instead of bump them.
Even though we didn’t win this game we are still proud of how well we played. Arcade is a great team, and we almost beat them! Hopefully, we will practice hard this week and beat Arden in our last game of the season this Friday!! Our game is at 5:30 at La Sierra, come support us!
Movie Review
X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE
By Radu Samson and Rhys Hershey
The movie, X-men Origins: Wolverine, is based on the award winning comic book character, Wolverine. This movie shows the story of his life. This action packed film exposes Wolverine’s life before he joined the x-men. It shows a short scene where he gets his powers and what he does leading up to present day. In the beginning of the film, he has bone claws instead of his trademark metal claws. Wolverine later gains his metal bones and claws when he joins the weapon x program when they plan to kill him because the test was successful. He escapes with no problems because of his new and improved powers of metal claws and bones. Over all, this entire movie was an action packed thriller filled with suspense and mystery. It is rated PG-13 for violence and mild language. It also receives a rating of 8 out of 10.
