Artful Shoe Project Continues
 The Artful Shoe project is a creative collaboration between the Sacramento Ballet, Mira Loma High School’s International Baccalaureate Visual Art students, under the direction of Ms. Allison Stiles-Roberts, and a few local artists.
Actual shoes worn by the Sacramento Ballet dancers were donated to the project and used as canvases for the artists’ original and imaginative creations.
Each artist was assigned a dancer, given their shoes and interviewed them one-on-one to get ideas and inspiration for their shoe designs.
The shoes were shaped and prepared, painted and sculptured into artistic masterpieces, customized to the personality and characteristic of each dancer as interpreted by the artist, with designs based on the dancers’ culture, personality, background, interests and ballet history.
The shoes were unveiled at the Nutcracker on Dec.11 and displayed at various performances during the holiday season.
There will be a gallery showing and auction for the shoes in early spring.
