Student Insurance
The San Juan Unified School District does not carry any insurance to cover injuries that students may suffer at school or while participating in athletic events. The district recommends that parents consider purchasing this type of insurance coverage for their child. By state law, any student participating in interscholastic sports must have adequate medical insurance.
In accordance with Education Code sections 49470-49472 and district policy 5143, the San Juan Unified School District has arranged for parents, if they wish, to purchase student athletic accident/medical insurance through the Student Insurance Company. Packets are available from school offices. For benefit coverage information, call Diane Edelstein at 1-800-367-5830.
Enrollment in the Student Insurance Company program is voluntary.
Personal property is brought to school at one's own risk. The district assumes no liability or responsibility for loss of or damage to personal property.
