Board hears update on the Multi-Tiered System of Supports
Staff provided an update on the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), a layered continuum of practices and supports which responds to the academic, emotional, social and behavioral needs of each student. The main focus for the 2016-2017 school year was the establishment of universal screeners, the expansion of Learning Support Teams and the addition of support staff for low-density elementary and high schools. Newly established support centers play a major role in the addition of services for medium and high-density schools for grades K-8. The team reported on current work and next steps toward establishing a comprehensive MTSS framework. The full presentation can be found here.
