Latest news from Mrs. Danzinger: I would like to thank all the families that have been so patient with me the last coupled of days...On Jan. 22nd both of my boys (16 and 18) were in separate car accidents while I was at school. While my younger son's accident was minor, being that he is disabled, we are experiencing some fear of riding the bus again to school so we are slowly dealing with that issue. My older son's accident was much more severe and we are in the midst of all of those issues, doctor appointments, insurance issues, police reports and everything else that goes with it. He is on the mend but will not be able to drive for several months in that his back and neck were very badly twisted making it hard for him to move or stay in one position for very long. Unfortunately he has had to drop his College classes for this semester being that he can't drive, sit for long or concentrate without getting a headache so he's at home recuperating and visiting the doctors about three times a week. So I would like to thank all the families who have been very patient with me about having last week's grades all up and recorded. I think I may have things under better control this week! But you never know, hopefully everything and everyone will heal and things will be back to normal for good! Absent Students: Many students have been out sick and it's important that students make up the work they have missed in a timely manner! Absent students need to get their homework from friends or from the web site and turn it in as soon as they arrive back to class! If your student is too sick to work on homework at least have them look over the lessons but do the homework when they feel better. Absent students are NOT excused from the homework! To see a list of assignments your child is missing please go to the parent portal for a list! https://sis.sanjuan.edu/parentconnect Student Help: There is an After School Study Hall on Mon-Wed from 2:30-3:30pm in room 34 (with me) and in room P-1. All students who wish to have a place to do homework may come in AND you don't have to just do Math!!! Pre Algebra period 1 We are currently working in Chapter 8 and will be moving into Chapter 11. We will go back and cover Chapter 9-10 as soon as we are done with 8 and 11. A calculator is not needed for each lesson but students can use them on our class tests. And it is extremely important that students have all their supplies ready for class each day. Students spend a lot of time searching for pencils, red grading pens and paper. (I do have Study Hall, Mon-Wed until 3:30 if your child needs to stay to work.) Make sure to LABEL your student's calculator due to them ALL being the same!!! Algebra period 3,4 & 6: I have a large number of parents asking me to email them a copy of their students grades in class. If parents have access to email, they have access to the gradebook also. If you have not already logged onto the "zangle" parentportal please do so ASAP. Simply notify the front office that you would like your students personal ID number and password. My second MAJOR concern is that I have LARGE numbers of students who ARE NOT studying for tests! I have many students who do not take the Group Practice Tests seriously, they do not work in their groups nor do they even use the GPT to review concepts not understood. This is very disconcerting in that I feel that my time making up the GPT is a waste of time when so many students don't even bother to study and then I get a phone call or an email about students needing extra help. Please be aware that students have been given the tenative dates for all up coming tests and quizzes. These dates are also given on newsletters. Immediately before a test is a GPT. Parents may want to start asking students for their copy and quizzing them on the material before the test. Algebra period 5: Students MUST have their own White Board Marker by NOW!!! Students were asked to purchase their own white board markers being that ALL of mine have been used up. We use them almost everyday! Thanks Books-on-Line!
