Welcome to The TX Message

The site where it's OK to Like Math!

This site is intended to help keep students and parents informed! Visit often as there is much to see and learn!

Latest news from Mrs. Danzinger:  Welcome to a New Quarter!!!  I hope everyone is looking forward to the up coming holidays!  Please remember that it is important for students NOT to miss school unless sick.  Please do NOT take your child out of school early to celebrate the holidays.  Many lessons are taught right up until the day before breaks as well as tests and quizzes!  Your student misses out on important instruction!

Absent Students: Many students have been out sick and it's important that students make up the work they have missed in a timely manner!  Absent students need to get their homework from friends or from the web site and turn it in as soon as they arrive back to class!  If your student is too sick to work on homework at least have them look over the lessons but do the homework when they feel better.  Absent students are NOT excused from the homework!  To see a list of assignments your child is missing please go to the parent portal for a list!   https://sis.sanjuan.edu/parentconnect

Student Help: There is an After School Study Hall on Mon-Wed from 2:30-3:30pm in room 34 (with me) and in room P-3.  All students who wish to have a place to do homework may come in AND you don't have to just do Math!!!

Need additional help AND have B lunch?  Mrs. Doan, my student teacher, has volunteered to tutor students on Mon and Wed during B lunch if you need or want help, she is available until Winter Break!

Pre Algebra period 1      We are almost finished with Chapter 4 and are NOW at that point in the year where students NEED their own Calculator.  The calculator used and taught in class is THE Texas Instrument 30XA.  Other calculators will not be discussed.  Unfortunately, I do not have time to teach students how to use other types of calculators and ABSOLUTELY NO GRAPHING calculators will be allowed in the room!  The TXIN 30XA can be found at Target and all office supply stores for around $10.  I do have some calculators in the classroom but I DO NOT check them out to students other than in the room and students will need a calculator to help them do their homework.  (I do have Study Hall, Mon-Wed until 3:30 if your child needs to stay to work.)

Make sure to LABEL your student's calculator due to them ALL being the same!!!

Algebra 1 period 3,4 & 6: I have a large number of parents asking me to email them a copy of their students grades in class.  If parents have access to email, they have access to the gradebook also.  If you have not already logged onto the "zangle" parentportal please do so ASAP.  Simply notify the front office that you would like your students personal ID number and password.

My second MAJOR concern is that I have LARGE numbers of students who ARE NOT studying for tests!  I have many students who do not take the Group Practice Tests seriously, they do not work in their groups nor do they even use the GPT to review concepts not understood.  This is very disconcerning in that I feel that my time making up the GPT is a waste of time when so many students don't even bother to study and then I get a phone call or an email about students needing extra help.  Please be aware that students have been given the tenative dates for all up coming tests and quizzes.  These dates are also given on newsletters.  Immediately before a test is a GPT.  Parents may want to start asking students for their copy and quizzing them on the material before the test.

Algebra period 5: Students MUST have their own White Board Marker by NOW!!!  Students were asked to purchase their own white board markers being that ALL of mine have been used up.  We use them almost everyday!  Thanks
