Why SchoolWorld teacher websites?  Why does a VP have one?

Welcome students, parents & teachers to my home page.  I am happy to report that while the SchoolWorld website is designed to facilitate communication between the teacher's classroom and its students and students' parents, they've still given me my very own page.

Students and parents can expect to use these teacher websites to access important classroom information such as classroom policies, syllabi, upcoming assignments and homework, announcements in general and much more; all without having to rely on direct communication with the teacher via telephone, voicemail or email.

My website will have slightly different content as it will be designed as a teacher resource as much as it is for students or parents.  Go to the "My Resources" link to browse, use or create assignments, to brush up on content related skills, reading/writing skills, essay writing, research papers, study skills and more.

What are other forms of school-home communication?

Bella Vista is a school with a culture of collaboration and group decision-making, which means communication is of the utmost importance.  The teacher websites will be an important new complement to that end.

Teachers are expected to make home communication any time a student becomes in danger of receiving a D or F grade (see board policy 5124California Ed Code 49067).  Other means of school-home communication include: and/or

  • Notes to/from teacher, including classroom policies, teacher issued progress reports, etc.
  • Telephone
  • Direct email
  • Zang!e--Online access to daily attendance, daily grades, progress reports, transcripts & more.
  • Parent-Teacher conferences
  • Back-to-School Night, Open House, Parent Information Night
  • The Bronco News Flash, a weekly email newsletter of all important BV related events, currently featuring over 3,500 self-managed subscriptions!
  • The Bronco Voice, PTSA's paper-based monthly newsletter (go to  for more information).
  • ConnectEd, an automated telephone based announcement system.  In addition to the Flash, this will be used to inform parents of important events like progress report issuances and emergency situations.

About Mr. Baker

I spent three years as a traditional high school biology, integrated science and health teacher and was a JV Swim coach and a JV tennis coach for a year each.  For another three years I was as an independent study teacher which included K-12 students as well as Spanish-only high school students, and for two years after that I worked as the principal of a small charter school site in San Bernardino with both a 100 student seat-time elementary school and a 400 student independent study high school.

I earned an administrative services credential, masters of education and teaching credential (biology, chemistry and general science) from Chapman University and a BS in Physiology from UC Davis.

I come from a dedicated family of teachers, with both my parents having worked 30 plus years as high school teachers, along with my sister, brother in law, two aunts and an uncle all involved as teachers and administrators.

Education is my life, one that has always been rewarded by seeing the good hearts and hard work of students and colleagues around me.  Bella Vista high school is a special place because we make it so.  I look forward to being a continuing part of the success of the BV family!

Through my participation in the BV family, I hope to create a school environment that improves student performance and helps prepare students for their next step.
