Teacher: Charlene FerraraWelcome!!Welcome to the GATE enrichment website! This site should provide you with information you need about the GATE enrichment program at Twin Lakes, GRDC, and Mariemont Elementary Schools. GATE Program Summary for 2009-10 The GATE enrichment program taught at Twin Lakes, GRDC, Thomas Kelly,and Mariemont is provided by certified teacher Charlene Ferrara. The program is specifically designed to be interesting and challenging for the gifted student. The curriculum changes every year so that the students receive varied and different subjects throughout their elementary school experience. The curriculum this year will include a simulation game called "The Mystery of the Injured Eagles". The students will use problem solving and teamwork skills and will study the geography of Alaska, bald eagles, and the Iditarod race. We will also have a hands-on science unit on the ear and sound. Students will discover the anatomy and physiology of the ear, hearing impairment, and the science of sound. We will also explore the topic of advertising. They will experience advertising first hand when they develop a product and a TV commercial for their product.
