March News

Upcoming Dates
March 3-5: Ms. Keller at Technology Conference
March 12: Coffee Hour
March 17-19: Parent/Teacher Conferences - MINIMUM DAY SCHEDULE
March 27-April 4: Spring Break

Parent/Teacher Conferences
Second Trimester parent/teacher conferences are only by request or teacher recommendation.  If I would like to conference with you, I'll send home a request for best times available the week of March 1.  If you would like a conference regardless, just send me an email or come by the room to set one up.  Students will be dismissed at 11:40 from Wednesday to Friday, March 17-19.

Ms. Keller Out for 3 Days
I will be attending a technology conference from Wednesday to Friday, March 3-5.  Mrs. Zeman will be here with your children on those days.  I hope to bring back lots of great ideas to implement in the classroom.

Blog Site
Check out our new blog site at kidblog.org/mskellersclass/  This site will now be on the "Links" page.

Sight Words
Please continue to review all sight words.  Most children need to keep practicing the word lists so they don't forget the words.  We will start List 8 in class on March 1 and work on that list for 3 weeks.  If your child has passed all 10 lists, s/he has a weekly summary and drawing to complete and turn in every Friday.  Directions for these are in the Sight Word section of your child's binder.

Nightly Reading
Please make sure your child is reading at least 10 minutes every night.  While it is important for you to read to your child, it is just as important for your child to practice reading, too.

Box Tops
Save your Box Tops and send them in periodically.  The PTA usually hosts a class competition to see who can get the most Box Tops.  Last year the Ocean Class was SO CLOSE to winning!

Envelopes Needed
Do you pay your bills online?  Do you throw away junk mail with return envelopes inside?  Save those envelopes for our class.  We use them for writing letters, and we don't mind if they have writing on the front!
