Thank you to all who sent in items for the Cowan Family Social.

Be sure to send in your permission slips for the April 7th fieldtrip asap.  Also if you are able to help drive please let me know ASAP.  We need four or five drivers is possible.  Remember, if you have not submitted a driver clearance form or Fingerprints you cannot transport students. 

March 29th- April 2nd Spring Break, NO SCHOOL.

Practice your addition and subtraction flashcards every night.  We are now taking our timed tests daily and students are only allowed to miss one questions in order to move on to the next test.  Also, if you miss more than one question you will take the exact same test the next day.  Practice, practice, practice.

Notice of Public Hearing on Proposed Meal Price Increase

The San Juan Unified School District Board will hold a Public Hearing on a proposal to increase the meal prices for school year 2010-11 and 2011-12 at their regular meeting on April 13, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. This meeting will be held at the office of the district, 3738 Walnut Avenue, Carmichael, California. The final action is anticipated on April 13, 2010.

SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR STUDENT STORE

Student Store will take place on March 26th.  Students will use play money, totals up to $1.00 to purchase little Knick-Knacks at our student store.  This is good practice for the real world and students actually get to take home the items they purchase.  I was hoping to have parents donate some small dollar store items, pencils, erasers, crayons, etc. to help our store run a fun experience.  Last year everyone donated a couple of small items and the students had a great experience.

Parent teacher conferences are next week.  I will not meet with all parents, so unless you receive a reminder notice on Wednesday you will not have a conference.  ALSO, OUR SAN JUAN BOARD VOTED TO NOT HAVE SUMMER SCHOOL THIS YEAR.  I REALIZE THAT MANY OF YOU WOULD LIKE TO STILL HAVE A SUMMER SCHOOL TUTOR.  IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN HAVING YOUR CHILD RECEIVE ONE -ON- ONE HELP WITH BOTH FIRST AND SECOND GRADE CURRICULUM OVER THE SUMMER PLEASE LET ME KNOW.  I AM OFFERING TO HELP TUTOR INDIVIDUALS THIS SUMMER.  LET ME KNOW.

Math:

Chapter 7 test will take place on Monday.  Then we start chapter 8 along with money as well.

*Mondays we have Library so be sure to pack your library book on Sunday night so your child can check out another book for the week.

*Thursday our class will have both Art and Music.  We also have our PE teacher provide instruction on Fridays and I will need to provide extra time on Wednesday. We start our Wednesday PE this week. 

Please remember to return the homework packet every Friday morning.  Also read for at least 15 minutes every night.

*Remember that Thursday's are Early Out, 1:00pm for Early Readers and 1:30 for Later Readers.
