Welcome! My name is Mrs. De Lassé and I will be your Spanish teacher for the 2009-2010 academic year.

How are grades calculated?
The grade for each semester is computed points earned in the following categories. Each category is weighed:
• 50% Tests and Quizzes
• 10% Classwork and Homework
• 10% Participation
• 10% Orals/Written Assignments/Presentations
• 20% Midterm / Final Exam (If you have a 91% you may be excused from taking the exam!)
93%-100% = A
90%-92.99% = A-
87%- 89.99% = B+
83%- 86.99% = B
80%- 82.99% = B-
77%- 79.99% = C+
73%- 76.99% = C
70%- 72.99% = C-
67%- 69.99% = D+
63%- 66.99% = D
60%- 62.99% = D-
Tests and Quizes- Exams may be oral, written or both. You will be notified of an exam in advance. Should you be absent the day before a test but return the day of the test, you will be expected to take it as scheduled.
* There will be no makeup work/points given for days that are truancies!
Extra help: If you find that you need extra help during the year, please LET ME KNOW! Do not wait until the day before the test! Do not expect to bring your grade up a week before the semester ends!
Homework and Class work: No late work will be accepted. Make up work will be accepted for excused absences and due the day of your return.
Students not completing homework will receive an after school detention. If there is a family emergency or an event that prevents your student from completing the work, please send a note to excuse them from the work.
IF YOU ARE ABSENT, it is your responsibility to get the homework assignment. The assignments are available through my page on the Rio Americano web site. Look under calendar ?
Bonus Points I do not offer extra credit assignments. Keep track of your grade day by day; do not expect to bring it up the last week of the semester!

BREACH OF ACADEMIC INTEGRITY- Any cheating will result in a 0 for the assignment or test and an F in citizenship. Possession of any electronic devices during testing will be considered cheating. Keep phones, MP3 players, etc. in your backpack!
Expected Behavior: Students are expected to be on time attentive, cooperative, and ready to work at the beginning of the class period. Treat everyone with respect.
Oral Participation: You must make an effort to use Spanish when communicating with me and with your classmates. You will receive participation points every day. These points cannot be made up. Be here!
Citizenship: To maintain your points you must be on time, prepared for class, and ready to learn and participate in a positive manner. Your grade will drop if you are tardy, interrupt the class, display a negative attitude towards yourself and others, do not follow the school and classroom rules.
If a student’s behavior interferes with class instruction they will be sent to the Vice principal’s office with a referral.
Attendance: The school tardy policy is posted in the classroom please read carefully. Tardies will be assigned detention.
