ACTION RESEARCH involves teachers directly with research in their own practice and topics they select to explore. 
Action research is a process where teachers, principals and support staff examine their own practice systematically and carefully, using techniques of research. 
Beginning with a compelling question regarding their own practice, action researchers gather and analyze their own data, draw conclusions and plan for future action. 
The purpose of action research is to help teachers improve their own work.  It is most beneficial to the profession when educators understand how action research can impact their practice.  During the process, educators greatly benefit by improvements they indicate themselves.
