Kopp’s First Grade Update

I would like to thank everyone for the wonderful surprise party.  Not one of the students said a word to me about the party.  I think the kids enjoyed the party as much as I did.  Thanks for the gift certificate to Michaels; I will enjoy shopping for crafts.

Reminder: School will be closed next week for Presidents week.

When we return to school the students will begin a series of benchmark tests in language arts and math. Your child will also be tested on reading fluency and writing skills during this time frame.

To help your child it is important to read daily with your child and review math worksheets that come home to make sure your child understands the concepts.  The writing assessment will check your child’s ability to write complete sentences using good punctuation.  The sentences need to support the specific subject.

The second trimester of school ends March 12^th.  Parent conferences will be held on March 17^th, 18^th, and 19^th.  I will be holding parent conferences with all students receiving 1’s or 2’s on their report card.  If your child is at or above grade level their report card will be sent home on the 19th.
