Week 26
We have minimum days this week for parent-teacher conferences. WE eat lunch at school on minimum days and hot lunch is served as a sack lunch. Please make a note of the change in our dismissal time. School is dismissed at 11:10 a.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week.
I have contacted those parents who need a parent conference. Report cards will be issued to all other students next Monday, March 22.
Math update: We are beginning Chapter 9 which introduces multiplying two and three-digit numbers. Your child should have his or her multiplication facts memorized (at least to the 10’s) to improve speed and success in this chapter. Please work on memorizing your facts and use flashcards to practice if needed. Here are couple great websites to practice at home. www.mathfactcafe.com and www.multiplication.com
Thank you to Mrs. MacLaughlin for leading our class in our school auction art project. The three paintings looked amazing! Thank you to everyone who was at the school auction. I saw quite a few of you there.
We are taking our theme 5 theme skills test this week in language arts.

Great news! I input our Language Arts Benchmark tests into Data Director and 100% of our students were in the proficient category. The test is scored as far below basic, below basic, basic and proficient. There isn’t a category for advanced. This makes me very happy as we are getting closer and closer to the STAR test.
As a grade level in language arts we will be finishing up theme 5 voyagers. We will take our theme skills test next week. During the week of the 22nd through the 26th we will be focusing on readers writers workshop. We will be focused on reviewing for the STAR test from April 5th until the test. After the STAR test is over we only have 3 more stories left in our anthology and we will have completed everything in our Houghton Mifflin series for grade 3.
