El Camino Photography General Information The El Camino Photography Lab is located in room S6 on the west side of the school campus. Our upgraded photo facility contains a traditional B&W print and film processing lab, matting and framing production room with professional dry mount presses and Roto-cutters, and five new Mac Pro work stations with Photoshop and other editing programs for advanced digital photographers. Our camera closet supplies students with a limited number of Film and Digital cameras that students can borrow for various class projects. El Camino Photography offers both beginning and advanced classes for ninth through twelth graders. All beginning classes are taught with traditional B&W film processes in a darkroom lab. Advanced photography class can use both B&W and Digital formats to produce a portfolio of photographs. Both Advanced and Beginning Photo courses are two semesters long or one full academic school year and fulfill the A-G high school graduation requirements. A pre-requesit of Beginning Photography is required to enter the Advanced Photography class. Here are some tips for New students *1. Pay your lab fees ($25.00) early during the first week of school. Lab fees increase to $30.00 after the deadline date. *2. Gather all your supplies for this class. The photgraphy courses at El Camino have a long-standing reputation for being helpful to students who are interested in persuing a career in the arts, journalism, design, and commercial photography. Several of our graduates have gone onto photography training schools, art schools, UC's and CSUcolleges with an in-depth knowledge of photographic processes. Our photo classes easily integrate into technical careers and photo programs in and out of high school. Have a great time learning and exploring the of the camera arts!
