Recap:  Churchill Middle School hosted the first EVER Norcal Science Olympiad Invitational Tournament on Sat. Dec. 8th, 2012.  There were 18 schools competing from all over the state (Sacramento, Bay Area, Yuba City, Stockton, Modesto, LA and Orange County.  Almost all schools won a medal and many won more than one.  Nine different schools took home a first place medal!  The events were proctored by many different schools and kids were exposed to a high quality competition that will hopefully help them do even better at their next tournament.

Rationale: Many other states offer invitationals in the months leading up to the regional tournaments, California has very few.  Invitationals are a way to enrich the overall experience, hone skills, test devices and in general, improve your team prior to the big competition.  Invitationals are Fun!  Science Olympiad students work very hard for months and months but without invitationals, there are very few opportunities for them to show their stuff and compete.
